Legion Full Battle Rattle
“Second year for the Legion Full Batle Ratle Triathlon. Located in and around Palmer Lake Colon Michigan.
The sprint starts with a ½ mile swim followed by a 15.2 mile bike course, and a 3.1 mile (5k) run.
As the saying goes: “You don’t expect to go out on a road march without going full battle rattle!!”
This is why the Legion Full Battle Rattle sprint triathlon was established in honor of those who have served or serving in our military. As a sprint triathlon in conjunction to USA Triathlon guidance – the course is designed to challenge the seasoned athlete and para triathlete wile supporting the novice looking for a challenge in 2024. To enhance the experience and capitalize on those friends with preferences – we are including a 3-person team relay. It is a requirement to be USA Triathlon registered which will be verified race day. Course Description:
½ mile swim
15.2 mile bike course
3.11 mile (5k) run
3 Person Relay is allowed
All transition from one centralized location at the Palmer Lake Beach
Race Time: 0900 hours (9am)
Transition area opens at 0700 hours (7am)
Packet Pickup:
Packet Pickup on July 19th from 4:30pm to 6:30pm or morning of the race July 20, 2024 at the Beach location beginning at 0700 hours (7am). Pre-registration participants will receive mailed portable pack to bring
on race day!
Spectators are encouraged to bring a camp chair for the side of the road, where there will be non-stop action. Of course, we always need volunteers so please encourage your family to actively engage as a volunteer. The race is a fundraiser for several localized organizations, including the Veterans Park initiative.

Participants must be 18 years old to enter. For those under 18 we will have a special event on August 12, 2024 called the Youth Battle Rattle
Notes:
On Race day, YOU CANNOT PARK at the beach area. Designed parking is clearly marked by turning down Sprowl Road and traveling South approximately 1 mile to a marked parking zone. The parking for participants and volunteers is within short walking distance to the beach transition zone. There are clear vantage points to watch the race throughout the course and root on those athletes!!!
There are no refunds on registration. This is a fundraiser, so all funds will go to a good cause. If you cannot attend, we are unable to send you the packets. If you cannot attend the awards ceremony, we cannot send awards to you after the race.
Youth Battle Rattle Triathlon
For children and area youth ages 6-16 on December 31, 2023 ****
“Notice: USA Triathlon guidelines require that we use “end-of-year age”. Children will be assigned to the age groups that they will be that they will belong based on age as of 12/31/2023. Children must be born after 12/31/2007 ( no older than 16 on 12/31/2023) and before 01/01/2018 ( No younger than 6 on 12/31/2023) to compete. There are no exceptions.

Friday August 11, 2023 from 4pm to 6pm EST
Saturday August 12 2023 beginning at 7am EST
Please Note the start times for each age group below.
Arrive at least 45 minutes prior to packet pick-up and get acquainted with course process (there will be assistance along the way)
The check-in times for the transition area (where participants keep their bicycles and gear) are as follows:
Ages 6-10: 9am
Ages 11-16: 10:00am
Start Wave Schedule
09:50am – Children Age 6 (red wave) may line up on the swim course located in marked beach location
10:00am – Start Children Age 6 (red wave), with children starting individually every 3-4 seconds into the water
10:10am – Children ages 7-8 (White Wave) may line up on the swim course located in marked beach location
10:20am – Start Children ages 7-8 (white Wave) with children ages 7-8 (White Wave), with children starting individually every 3-4 seconds.
10:30am – Children ages 9-10 (Blue Wave) may line up on the swim course located in marked beach location
10:40am – Start Children 9-10 (Blue Wave) with Children starting individually every 3-4 seconds.
10:50am – Children 11-16 (Yellow Wave) may line up on the swim course located in marked beach location
11:00am – Start Children 11-16 (Yellow Wave) with children starting individually every 3-4 seconds.
***Waves may start slightly later than published since we have to confirm that the portions of the road on the bike and run courses are clear and fully staffed to ensure safety of all participants.
Guidelines:
The transition area will open at 7am for children to begin racking their bikes.
For children ages 6-8, one parent is allowed into the transition area to help them set up their equipment. These parents may remain in the transition for the swim-to-bike transition but must exit once the bike portion of their child’s race begins. These parents may not assist their older (ages 9-16) children inside the transition area whatsoever.
For children ages 9-16, we will have volunteers to assist with racking their bike and setting up their equipment.
Children will start the swim individually in sequence every 3-4 seconds rather than in a wave formation.

Awards:
Top 3 boys and girls in each age group (6,7,8,9,10,11,12,13,14,15,16) will receive an award medal and any prize development prior to race time. The awards ceremonies will take place as follows (+/- 10 minutes
